• Agate:  “It is concentric layers stipe chalcedony, sometimes crossed by opal. The fine acicular crystals of quartz are oriented perpendicularly to the surfaces of every stratum. The transparency of agates varies of the almost translucent in the opaque. In rather thin blades, most of the agates are translucent. Agates are in nodules or in geodes, of which the diameter varies from some millimeters to several meters, more rarely in fractures filling, in volcanic rocks poor in silica”.
